Dawn Patrol with Duchess
A Word about Pantoums
This poem is in the form of a pantoum: a series of quatrains, with the second and fourth lines repeated as the first and third lines of the next stanza. I think it creates quite a unique effect, but I will let you judge for yourself.
Dawn Patrol
We take our walk at dawn.
What will this morning hold?
We cut across the lawn.
For today we will be bold.
What will this morning hold?
We follow every scent.
For today we will be bold.
We know which way they went.
We follow every scent.
Another dog, perhaps a cat?
We know which way they went.
We walk fast, I hold my hat.
Another dog, perhaps a cat?
We cut across the lawn.
We walk fast, I hold my hat.
We take our walk at dawn.
